Mongol Uls

UPDATE AND PREPARATION

FOR NEXT TRIP IN AUGUST

 March, 2008

THANK YOU!

As I proceed in my desire to serve Christ in Mongolia I am keeping in mind your prayers and financial support so generously given in 2007. Without that support my efforts would only be a gesture or a wish. But the reality is that you are the significant difference, i.e. the mission outreach to Mongolia is possible because you care. It is your Christian love for God’s truth and the need the world has to hear of His love for them. All of that to say I am soliciting your continued support for the next trip to Mongolia this August. The Mongolian Fund has already received $1,900.00 this year. I am convinced and strengthen in heart by such spirit for this mission outreach.

From the donations given last year I was able to give to the ZuunMod College $2000.00 for the purchase of eight computers. The College now has a computer department. This is a good investment on our part as we strive to work with the College in a proper Christian influence. It’s just good public relations. The College has already shown itself a friend to me and to Christianity!

MY AGENDA.

1)    The College is proving to be a proper basis from which to work. I will continue to  teach Conversational English as a volunteer for the college.

2)    I trust to continue my friendship with Sendenpurev Batbold. He is the “pastor” of  the church in ZuunMod and has shown himself eager to grow in the knowledge of the Bible.  In addition, I hope to study the Bible with students as opportunity arises.

3)   I am preparing 20 fifteen minute lessons to be recorded for presentation on  Mongolian TV as an introductory series of Bibles studies. Hopefully this will encourage personal contacts with Mongols through out the country.

4)    I have contacted brethren in the US asking for referrals of any Mongolian Bible correspondence students they may have engaged. My intent is to visit these students for personal Bible study while in Mongolia.  It may be that I could extend my time in Mongolia as the situation presents the need. The speical person who has been so helpful to my introduction to Mongolia is Dr. Battsetseg Shagdar. She is the founder and the director of the English Language College where I have been visiting and teaching. She is the one who has introduced me to the broad spectrum of Mongolian culture – the folkways and mores. Through her encouragement and contacts, the opportunity for TV programming is materializing.   She is now running as a candidate for the Mongolian Parliament. She is running on a democratic ticket against the Communist Party. Her election would be a great boon to greater religious freedoms – particularly for Christianity. Though she is not a Christian, she is very encouraging to those who are! (See the enclosed solicitation.)

A VISIT FROM MONGOLIA.

We in Leavenworth are looking forward to a ten-day visit by four Mongolian teachers of the ZuunMod College. They are to arrive in July. The specific days are yet to be determined. The purpose of their visit is for the enhancement of their English skills. Each will stay with a separate family for the cultural environment and exercise of their use of English.

Pictured here is the College Staff taken while on a trip to the ancestral home of Ghinges Khann. (From left to right: Catheryn & Sarah – both are American teachers living in ZuunMod – Navchaa, my interpreter and quide, Ghishgee, Naraa, Dir. Battsetseg, and _____________ (I’m sorry to say I don’t have her name). Your support of this mission outreach is needed and greatly appreciated.
